Most current researchers believe multiple factors combine rather than any single cause acting alone.
Regular electrolyte supplements replace minerals lost through sweat over the course of a training session. Cramp-specific products take a different approach. Many are built around compounds that stimulate transient receptor potential channels in the mouth and throat, known as TRP channels. These channels are sensory receptors that respond to acetic acid, capsaicin, ginger, and cinnamon.
